My suspicion is that his account was hacked. Probably, too easy password and/or password reuse.

The IP of that post is the same as two previously banned spammers. The account has had at least one other spam post removed earlier.

The security alert was raised by your browser because the linked site uses a self-signed security certificate which, while fully functional, cannot be trusted as much as one from a well-known authority.

I meant, I don't think it needs intervention of any sort, I'm pretty sure I can police it adequately without needing to consider asking for a lock.
