When I am scrolling through a board and reach the bottom of the page I have to go back up to the top to click on the link for the next page.

It would be easier of the board pages were at the bottom.

Agreed - unfortunately there is no active development of the forum software.

Do you know why this is?

Are they accepting volunteers?

Historically WP has always run in an as-is setup.
I'm assuming that over the 20-odd years of WP's existence, Alex (the owner) now has other more pressing interests - although I should note that he's been paying the site hosting costs for all that time.

No volunteers are being sought for any coding ventures.

This is unfortunate. I am a full stack developer and noticed potential improvements immediately.

Also, the site responsiveness is very delayed and is likely using dated infrastructure/servers.

Anyway… keep me in mind if interest in volunteers arises… I have the time.

There are many of us here capable of assisting with coding, myself included.
And yes, there are certainly tweaks and improvements that could be implemented.

The site's responsiveness does vary occasionally for non-obvious reasons, although it's unlikely to be due to dated infrastructure/servers.
I believe WP is still hosted by Sliqua Enterprise Hosting (on, IIRC, a virtual Linux box) and makes use of CloudFlare's global cloud network and other protection services.

Fair enough. It’s not going to stop me from using the forum. I also was confused when you said no active development with the types of users that would volunteer if allowed :D

Good that you're staying - WP is "mostly functional" and probably suffers more from UI irritations/shortcomings than showstopper bugs.

Yes, it is a bit odd, what with WP stuffed to the gills with coding skills - but Alex was stung badly by a previous volunteer who turned out to be covertly malicious.

My posts should probably be closer to 10-15, but the bug I’v been having is that when I submit a post, it goes to a network error page (iOS) and when I refresh my entire typed response is gone. I’v began to copy my posts before submission. That’s what has me come to this sub to offer volunteer hours

Does he use GitHub? There are some access control options to use the principle of least privilege - as well as approval workflows.

I know I’m preaching to the choir… maybe even singing to them…

There has been the odd report about posting errors with iOS-based systems. Repeating the action on a different browser/platform would show no errors.
I've not seen a network-related error for ages but when they do occur, they tend to be CloudFlare -related.
Besides, network errors reported by other software seem unlikely to be a bug in WP, no? :chin:

With an error apparently wiping an in-progress post I usually find that the browser's "back" button returns to how the page was before the interruption appeared.

These days I make a copy of any lengthy post before submitting.
It can be boiled down to a few keystrokes (AIUI these control sequences are pretty universal):

1. in the WP post/PM edit window, do Ctrl-A to select all the post's text
2. then do Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard
3. Alt-Tab your way to the plain text editor you'd thoughtfully started earlier
4. if you'd already pasted the content do Ctrl-Z to undo the paste and remove it
5. in the text editor window paste your post with Ctrl-V (and optionally, save the editor file)
6. Alt-Tab your way back to the WP post edit window and carry on

Steps 4 & 5 effectively maintain a running backup.
If you accidentally hit a key after step 1 the text will be replaced by whatever you typed - so immediately do Ctrl-Z to undo that and restore your post's text.

AFAIK GitHub has not been used for any WP-related work.
Also, you have an excellent singing voice!
