I understand that I cannot delete my own account (for some stupid f*****g reason) and i particularly dislike the people on here.
Don't come at me with some psychology BS, because I already know it.
I just want my account deleted with as little drama as possible. i'm depressed as f**k, and talking to strangers about BS stuff is making it worse.

Only one that can do that is Alex, so you can try with him. Or, you can simply stop coming and posting here.

There is a simple, step-by-step solution for this:

Step 1: Log Out of WrongPlanet.

(Hint: There is no "Step 2".)

Just wondering why it's not possible.

If I may extrapolate a bit, I suspect that TiredOfBeingHuman's desire for deleting the account as opposed to simply not logging in is so that no trace of him having been on the site, in the form of his older posts and PMS, remains; he does not want there to be any remnants of him being associated with this website. As others have mentioned, though, the framework for the website does not allow such posts to be deleted--I am not very website-savvy, so I cannot spell out the dynamics too well, but it would basically mess up the coding and format of the website if prior posts were pulled from the threads and if users were pulled from the server (I think this has something to do with the numbering system attached to users/profiles?).

Mostly, though, I'm just posting to say how much I absolutely love your username. Best of luck and happiness in your outside life!

Deleting an account leaves a hole in the database that causes indexing issues -- you might click on a subject on the front page, and unexpectedly find yourself looking at a completely different part of the website.

Same for deleting all of a member's posts -- it disrupts the sequencing of all other posts on the website.

So, if you don't want to access this website any more, then simply stop logging in.

Yes, it really is that simple.

Random sounds like fun.

But if someone did want to delete whatever they've written for whatever reason, the time limit to edit old posts could be raised so they could go back and wipe that stuff. They'll still have replies and quotes, but it's something. Just an idea.

Pointless.

Members should put more thought into their posts before clicking on the "Submit" button, and not demand redaction of their posts long after the editing period has expired.

I say let the situation stand as it is; and if a person does not want to log on to WP any more, then they should just stop logging on.

No one walks through life making correct choices all of the time. Most other places you can delete posts and accounts if you wish.

Links, please?

"Most other places" (if they exist) are probably using a more advanced form of software than WP is currently using.

phpBB, ProBoards, they're huge, right? Both free and it's possible to delete accounts. There's probably a lot more.

?

I think the point has been made here, time to let this thread die.
