This may or may not sound like a stupid question to ask but? Why?
I've noticed this a lot after occasionally logging in and back out and finding that we get new staff every time.
Is there a reason behind it that I missed out?

How many is "a lot"?

Maybe mods quit because they get tired of essentially baby-sitting websites full of complainers, losers, and self-absorbed whiners.

Mneh ... maybe not in our case. I mean, we're all tolerant, successful, and supportive members here on WP, aren't we?

The site here requires a LOT of attention to maintain. It's broken. Until the firm Alex has hired pulls their fingers out and gets some work done, there's no way of fixing it.

We can't all run XenForo.

How many mods are left now (after Book..... has gone?) How are new ones appointed? If there are too few left, the sheer overload on them is bound to lead to burnout. I hope this doesn't happen.

because donating your time to a site, doesn't give anything, I guess the moderators weren't happy with doing it for free, or the compensation in nothing but hot pockets.

watch?v=qdC_Cu9X4wc

and then revolution is coming, and a french revolution, screw the mods, become and outlaw, and burn this site to the ground.

no one wants to be on a site where the forum mods throw around their power and bully people and then claim themselves to be the victim and ban the user for defending themselves no one wants to touch a garbage site like that. so the users are probably leaving too. the current mods leaving are only a good thing.

its at the start of that mod attention thread. I've only seen "who_am_I" on too.

My suggestion to the remaining mods is to stay as they are, don't pick up the workload. It's the only way Alex will appoint more. Otherwise he'll see mods here working all the time and assume everything is ok and that the fort is held.

A high staff turnover is a cause for concern in any business. As a customer/user I am concerned that the people moderating this site do not have adequate working conditions that accomodate their abilities. I could not do their job, even if i had those skills, I doubt my health would sustain the interpersonal drain.

Because they were overworked volunteers who got no support.

I disagree. In some cases it may be a case of not having found the *right* team.

But here, you're right, it's a cause for concern...

^ According to the Moderator Attention Thread, these are:

puddingmouse
Who_Am_I
XFilesGeek

But I thought LabPet was mod too, though? She still has 'moderator' under her name...

No, I think she's retired but the label was never removed.

I guess the moderators have to pretty much use their time preventing attacks from the outside.
It's pretty much up to us users to police ourselves.
