This thread is full of snark.

Request this thread be deleted. Duplicate topic and the other thread has a better source

Can people who are banned still log in but not post?

^ They can't log in and therefore can't post. But as a non-member all areas accessible to the general public remain readable.

This will of course exclude the Members Only Discussion forum and the Adult Autism Issues forum - the former for obvious reasons and the latter because it requires an age to be set in the profile, which in turn requires a membership.

I thought they can still log in but they get the message saying they have been banned and they can't view the forum unless they log out nor can they read their personal messages. Has this changed?

When a banned member tries to log on there may be a message explaining that they're banned and no longer able to read PMs or post to the forums but I'm not aware of any requirement to log out while banned before being able to view the forums - it just seems unnecessarily complicated.
Or - maybe all that happens if they were banned while logged on?

Being banned essentially means someone has been "demoted" to the status of the general public - who are able to read (most) forums but have no membership allowing them to use PMs or write to the forums.

Would you like to create a test account and PM me from it?
I'll ban it as soon as I can on receipt of the PM, so you can then see definitively what happens when a banned member tries to log on.

Okay, I was actively using the account. It kicked me out, and when I tried to log back in, it said that I couldn’t because I was permanently banned. Does it work the same way for people who’ve been temporarily banned?
