go to my account

click browse users

then in select sort method total post and order descending

and there you go to post rankings

People's post counts are USUALLY just that. However...

They are not re-evaluated each time you ask for them.

They can actually be reset to zero, by an admin, for instance.

The chances are that the ones you have seen with negative counts are the result of some accidental glitch in the database.
