I am interested in pursuing college for graphic design and music production, but some say that college isn't for everyone. Please explain.

I think they mean not all people enjoy college and some will not be successful with the way college operates with having assingments with multiple days and ending up procrastinating.

1.) Some people simply aren't intelligent enough or don't have the work ethic or motivation required to succeed in college
1a.) Others are fully capable but have difficulties performing adequately in a typical classroom-style setting
2.) Some fields don't require a college degree
2a.) Some college degrees are completely worthless

A big part of the traditional college experience is moving away from home, studying on your own, and socializing with new people. Sort of halfway between living at home and living on your own.

I think you miss out if you just view it high school with tougher courses.

Not the case in every country. Most Australians go to a university that is close by. I did not really take on independence until I moved to the US for my PhD. Sometimes its very good to stay near your support network.

Thank you, good responses so far.

So college success really comes down to personal responsibility on getting tasks done for the most part? The cocnerns about functioning in a classroom are also noteworthy, I have quite a few social issues.
