I'm at uni but I have been told I have mentle problems?
I moved to university a couple of weeks ago all on my own. Its been pretty lonely but I'm used to being alone. Its been hard and the floor I'm living on is not very social even though I try to talk to people. My past has been horrible and I haven't lived a normal life like everyone else because of my learning difficulties, etc and its been more harder to socialise and I have been getting bad vibes of some people. I have been told by family that I need help professionally moving on and going to uni isn't going to make my problems go away. I have been positive but sometimes my behaviour is not normal even though most of the time I'm a nice outgoing person. My family have said they sometimes don't blame me of how I am because of how my life has turned out. What can I do?
Ignore your family's attempts to discourage you and keep you down.
I'm going to hazard a guess that not many in your family have been to uni, and that the idea of you succeeding where most of them haven't is somehow a threat to their egos - this is how it was with mine under similar circumstances. Again, I am just guessing.

Agreed with Fnord - definitely don't sell yourself short. However, does your university have a counseling center or something similar? When I was in college, I had group therapy sessions that I attended at my university's counseling center, and that helped out a lot with my adjustment.
