I'm very sorry these terrible things were done to you.

For absolute starters, psychiatrists need to learn how to tinker with the medication, which I understand in many cases when a person is experiencing schizophrenia or bipolar, they do not do.

And thank you for your bravery in saying you were raped. As more men acknowledge this that, yes, males, too can be raped, hopefully that will speed the day when this kind of hugely serious abuse is committed far less often.

As far as community colleges starting to build dorms, I think it's good, it gives people one more choice and option.

I hear you saying that you'd still like to go to college. I encourage you to hold onto that dream, and also maybe at the same time, go lateral. For example, maybe politics on your own terms of engagement and back-and-forth?

For example, about 10 years ago I heard about "Town Hall" meeting at a restaurant. Then, I found out it was the Republicans. Well, heck. I went anyway, basically because I was lonely. And I didn't lie that much. I said I was really more of an independent and a moderate, so I didn't pretend to be a conservative. And the interesting thing, because I was focused on meeting people in a respectful way and hearing what they had to say and believe, I did better socially than at Democratic groups!, when often I have an issue or two to promote.

Also, some people like book groups. No, not the same as the college experience writ large, but a little bit of the exchange of ideas.

So, I say, hold onto the dream, and maybe at the same time lightly try experiments and/or sideways dances as it were.

I'm not near as active as I used to be, but I still care about our Spectrum and WrongPlanet community.

...Please don't take this as me trying to shoot you down :( . A major problem with my trying to go out to clubs/groups - my being in a shelter, briefly, pretty much smashes :( any thought of going to such things, there's a curfew :( - and my much-stolennen stuff, including my clothes being stolen  , contribute to me not coming off all that dapper. If I could build up more good stability and infrastructurstuff around me, perhaps. But now :( ...

Yes, those are two significant obstacles. And people do judge a person by their clothes.

Okay, depending on your city, maybe boardgaming on Saturday day, likely to finish well before curfew time, hopefully! Personally, I've had mixed results with fellow boardgamers. (also spelled board gaming in two words)

Or, senior events at your local library? If you're remembering Andy Gibb and Player, and I can remember "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder and "Rock 'n' Fantasy" by Bad Co., like me, you're getting on up there. I think at age 50 a person is welcome to join AARP. Anyway, it might be kind of neat being among the youngest person at a senior event. Or not, personal preference and all of course. 8)

...I put a great deal of effort, really poured myself full, into a long reply to you - Then, the completed letter did not go up, I lost it                       WHY? I AM SO HATED BY LIFE  .
I wish I could talk to you, do it that way - typing on this tiny phone, very cheap - and, just TWO DAYS or so after buying it (as a replacement for still another stolen lphone ) is so hard  .

Tech is stupid -- y mas grande estúpido! (bad Spanish grammar intentional!!) I mean, the programmers give you all these cautions and warnings and abilities to go back, but not the handful of times when it would actually make a difference :|

That said, you've got to just take a break and then create it again. I mean, what else can you do?

Maybe shorter and sweeter, maybe not. I myself often need a lot of space to say what I want and need to say.

PS Not a fan of Cloudflare!

...I have this windfall lump sum of money supposed my coming. It's quite large - certainly compared to my position now - but I think, in fact, it might create problems for me with my SSDI - and I think I will have to pay taxes on it. I think what I might try, then, is to...get it, I suppose take myself off of SSDI...but, when it's running low, get a decent specialist lawyer who gets people So ial Security benefits to get me back on :? ? I don't think it's at all enough to live long-term on.
If I spent enough money to get myself a place, maybe I"d seem more " respectable " to Social Services then and they might help me more if I didn't seem as " homeless " :? . I don't really have skills or a past record or health enough to get a job that a tone would lay me for - unless I got a whole lot of training to get some.desk on at some autism/homelessness agency - if that could e arranged n have enough energy now to do it :( .

Get yourself a permanent apartment with that money. Or a room, at least. Priority #1.

And get yourself on waiting lists like Red Robin did.

...I don't drive and haven't for many years, I can't really hit the road as Robin did, I have been on the '' Greater Bay Area " (counting the San Francisco Bay Area as conventionally defined and the Santa Cruz area together as one) essentially continuously since 1997. I am on a Section 8 waiting list in Santa Cruz and nearby Hollister. I think I really need persctiption glasses and dentures, which I believe Medical/Caid/Care doesn't cover. I have been told that the San Francisco Social Services people who are oriented towards housing have rather written me off. The Hot Team people here in SF are rather pushing me towards Laguna Honda, this convescent hospital here. I do not care to eat and go to bed on an institutional schedule and live around a roommate. The readables, etc. I bought in 2018 are in storage in Santa Cruz.

You're smart to be concerned about SSDI from the very beginning. One possibility might be if you bought a decent condo in a decent neighborhood. I think owner-occupied home might not be figured in the calculations, although not sure about this. And maybe also other non-liquid investments.

I'd almost recommend finding a CPA or financial planner.

But . . . so many of those are just interested in selling the particular portfolio of investments which they have. And plus, SSDI eligibility with a lump sum is a pretty specialized area.

Maybe just hunt around on the Internet. That way, if you eventually find a good professional, you'll have some really well-informed questions.

And this is one more reason I wish we had Autism Spectrum advocacy groups (run by and for people on the spectrum), maybe they have them in the UK. I am an (inactive) member of ASAN, but to the best of my knowledge, they don't have financial and legal pros lined up ready to help people. Frankly, maybe they should! :D

As I'm sure you know, the San Fran Bay Area among the most expensive in U.S.

When the lump sum comes, maybe an hour outside the area might be cheap enough and still close enough to areas you're familiar with?

I know a relative in his late 50s who doesn't have much money or a car and has lived in a little studio apartment in Bakersfield California for many years. Close to a grocery store and public library and bus stops. Even a mall is nearby. When the family is in Bakersfield he gets paid a visit and picked up to go wherever, so I am familiar with that area. I have heard that Bakersfield / Kern County has good a social services system.

...I have no real family. I don't drive, remember (Perhaps I could again drive - as I once did - but it would take much time & expense.). The stuff in storage is not much in mass - it could easily fit in a four-seat car with two seats occupied by people - but it isn't light, and I could not, really, move it by myself even if I had a car. However, I think that is true for " normal " late 50s people - I presume Kraftie has a standard apartment or house, I would assume that, if he moved, he could not hump everything himself (" Hump " is I guess more British English :? for " carry something heavy " - avoid a misinterpretation!).

That accumulated stuff in storage is heavy, like an anchor.
