what a blip! IT'S NOT JUST ME!!
Hey, I'm 50 and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, besides left in peace, but I'm not the only one! I've known about Asperger's since my godson was diagnosed with autism and every year I've come closer and closer to acceptance---I NEED to get the futile degree to get the intellectually-challenging job ( preferably from home ) and I finally submit to college as the gateway ( having tried everything else, besides sleeping my way to the top, which becomes somewhat awkward with few social skills...). I'm in school now, but the familiar fatigue is creeping up on me AGAIN( French, journalism, history, psychology,English literature and Health Information Technology). I just want a completely self-directed career where I won't be managed by people with single-digit IQS ( yes, I realize that sounds horribly snotty, but is it true? You know it is...)

Hello! we have a whole community on WP of us late diagnosed Aspies and you are welcome to stop by the Dino-Aspie ExCafe in the "Getting to know You section"
I got my college degree when I was in my late fourties, so I definately can relate to your hectic schedule. Stop by the ExCafe and have a muffin and meet the gang!

Welcome....43 here and having the same issues.I hate to "out cynical" you but you are not going to escape idiots by working in a more intellectualy stimulating environment....there are all kinds of "moron" and they populate all fields.(I think they call it "office politics"?)The best you can hope for is limiting th actual number of human interactions you incounter in whatever field you choose.(even writers have to deal with inane publication campaigns and touring to promote their books.)I tnd to get along best with people who society deems crazy,so I usually stick with social service jobs(co-workers can drive me insane but the clients are usually very nice).
I am currently trying to start a home-based business selling my crafts on-line,sounds like I will still have to deal with the "politics and popularity contests of the other sellers and fussy costumers but t least I can do something I enjoy with most of my time.
I wish you much luck in your new journy.Put your seaatbelt on,it can get bumpy.
