As far as I'm aware, there are scholarships for students with disabilities. You just have to know where to look, as with any scholarship.

Regarding your original query:
I'm a Cognitive Science major. It's an interdisciplinary field of study, encompassing computer science and artificial intelligence, neuroscience, biology, philosophy, linguistics, engineering, and psychology. I consider the assimilation of those fields difficult, but I find all of them far too interesting to give up from intimidation. I'm even thinking about minoring in Entomology, if at all possible.

Don't ask me what kind of job I could get with a Cognitive Science degree...

I wouldn't want to make a robot that was better at feeling than I am... though that could be useful.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "theories machines for thought."

While it is wonderful, science fiction has created unreasonable expectations (and delightful goals) for science. Robot vision, undirected intelligent behavior, and machine learning are all in the stages of infancy. Building a robot to be my friend has always been a fantastic dream, but I doubt it is feasible within my lifetime. A girl can hope, though.

Your field of study is so bad-ass. I wish my rinky-dink college had had something like that the first time around. Might've saved me several of my major changes, and then going back for a different degree. Way to go, you! Just make sure you go to grad school straight out of ugrad.

PS Entomology is the most fun class ever, besides maybe birding or hiking or something.

Haha I agree. However, my school technically doesn't have it as a major. Cognitive Science is a minor provided by the philosophy department, so I had to do a ton of paperwork to get it. And, thanks. Grad school looks better and better every day.

Entomology does looks like a lot of fun. I think maybe something like an astronomy lab might top it, but just barely... hooray stargazing for credit!

getting to walk around campus with a net, while hanging w/your weird friends (who are also in the class, of course) is so much fun.

additionally, if you have a roommate you don't like, the ol' "insect collection in the freezer" trick is guaranteed to scare him/her off. heh. it worked for me.

EDIT to the paper I'm writing. My topic changed. Now I'm looking at the benefits of music therapy for those on the autistic spectrum. :D

I'm majoring in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, which is basically a Biology-Chemistry double major, and a minor in Psychology. Take that for brain-frying masochism.
