I've had a dog in the house all my life so far, but I like both dogs and cats. However, I am allergic to cats, so I can never have one in the house.

I've always been a dog person, but I've been trying to give cats a try.

I'm a cat-lover I suppose. I dislike sudden loud noises and thus dislike dogs because of it (unless you get those dogs that don't bark or only have a bearably quiet bark). Also I remember my mum knew an older woman who had a big dog for about 10 years, and the dog was always gentle and friendly. Then just one day, she was just sitting next to the dog, when suddenly he turned on her and she had to be rushed to hospital. Luckily she survived but the dog had to be put down. Nobody knows to this day why the dog suddenly turned on her just like that. So now hearing that has also put me off dogs, especially big dogs.

Wow that's pretty interesting. In general dogs are far more popular than cats, so why is it aspies like cats so much more? Besides not liking dogs' bark and feeling afraid of dogs, maybe aspies identify with cats, they are aloof, don't demand attention/are okay by themselves and show affection in different ways.

I personally love dogs. No, not all dogs bark, and not all of them need to be walked. My dog is perfect s2 she is intelligent (knows more than 20 words), calm, sensitive and affectionate like me. She doesn't bark and is so sweet, never aggressive even if someone is doing something bad to her.

I like them both but for different reasons.

As for them liking me, well that's a different topic.

Dogs tend to like to bite me, I'm not afraid of them but it is something that has always happened and I've owned a few dogs in my life.

Cats do like me. They follow me down the street. I've never actually owned one though. I don't think I ever would to be honest.

Ah, definitely cats.
It is a well known fact that cats have significant amount of Aspie traits. They like to be independent and free and never let go of what they really love. They tend to get attached to certain objects and stuff, are quite clever, don't really like changes in their routine, are pretty unpredictable when it comes to behaviour. It's quite amazing, really.
I can "read" them much easier than people and this fact always puts a nice little smile on my face whenever I remember it.
I also love their furs, their looks in general and their lovely silence. I just love 'em, man.

It honestly depends on the individual dog or cat, instead of the species in general for me.

I love ALL animals, really----my mother wanted me to be a veterinarian as I seem to have like a sixth sense about them. Every time I go to someone's house and they say: "Oh, he won't come to you, he doesn't like anybody", the animal will come to me----even let me hold them, sometimes-----I love to see the owner's jaw drop right down to the floor. I currently do not have a pet-----but, I PREFER cats as pets, and have had them all of my life-----simply because I don't want to have to get-up on my day off and walk a dog in 3 feet of snow, or pourin' rain, or whatever, but I love most everybody else's dog. I prefer German Shepherds, and other big dogs----I'm not so fond of those little "yippers".

Interesting....I hear that there are a lot of cat lovers out there, but there are hardly any in the Midwest or central United States. :/ I feel like the odd-ball.
