My high school had Advanced Placement courses. I took AP English and American History.

I took AP Calculus and AP English, but I can't get past my freshman year of college. I'm almost 27, and I've attempted 3 times. It's brutal. I've decided to just study a few texts on my own at my own pace until I get stable enough really try again. I was so good in school as a kid, and when I hit puberty, things gradually slid downhill until I was coasting through with minimal effort and getting A's, but mostly B's. I did some typically bad gifted decisions, and was making really ignorant social decisions and having Aspie symptoms, i.e. seizure-like zoning out, complete social apathy- inability to process conversations or react to others, plus I was totally isolated by the time I was a senior- one friend who felt sorry for me and dropped me like a bad habit when she got asked out by the guy she liked. I never understood her anyway. Being a girl, I had somewhat of a history of boys being interested in me, so I interacted with the idea of dating on occasion, but I am quick to turn cold, and I come across as heartless.

I'm in something called Gifted and Talented (G&T instead of T&G).
It is the top 10% people in the country according to how well they are capable of doing as school.

Well, I'm not gifted, but I was in a writing program that required you to be really good at writing.

I was also classed as 'gifted' and referred to this thing called the Centre for Talented Youth. They had a whose lexicon of courses taken from first-year university material that the young people could study. I took Law, Psychology, Philosophy and Creative Writing before I grew too old for them.

It was called GT (Gifted and Talented) in my county, and I was put in the program in 1st grade. Then in high school they decided they didn't like that name, and changed it to Honors. Or something like that. I also took several AP courses (English, English lit, History, and Statistics). My high school didn't offer AP Japanese until the year AFTER I graduated, so unfortunately I missed out on that.

I was in it from 1st grade to 12th grade, and in the honors program at the community college I attended.

I was in the gifted and talented program in my school, which wasn't very well organized and was accelerated a year in mathematics. After my second year of hs I moved to a specialist mathematics and science school. There I was in the advanced maths class and completed most of my yr 11 subjects in yr 10 (that's roughly the equivalent of junior year subjects in sophomore year to the Americans).

I went to a private, academically enriched school. Not the same as a TAG, but a similar opportunity for a different kind of education from the norm.

I went to a school for gifted and talented children. I remember going in for the tests and whatnot before I started kindergarten there. The school went up to 6th grade and from there we were all scattered and put back into mainstream schools. I know some of the kids did not turn out well and my husband thinks our isolation might have made a negative impact on our collective growth. He was in a program for gifted children as well but his school district did it differently than mine did. He was in the same schools as everyone else, just isolated within the school... as a 4th and 5th grader, his class of twenty some kids was moved to the jr. high school, which was terrifying for them. He often speaks of how they had people who would come in and tell them how to relate to others and how to cope with them. I do not know if that is common with programs like these. It was not in my school, but we never had to deal with anyone but people like us on a daily basis, so I guess they did not deem it necessary.

I would respond to the poll, but I can't.

I was in Gifted & Talented (G&T) from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. At every level, it was designed for those who were smarter and eventually we had to be in honors/AP classes to be in G&T.

I suppose I was an aspie even back then, even though my diagnosis came after one year of college.

I have always been in a GATE program.
Pretty useless, though

No, I was never in a TAG program.

Was jealous of other now-former classmates who were in such a program, but obviously that's over with.

I was also in a GATE program from 1st to 6th grade. After that, I don't know what happened but I lost interest in school anyway. It was also useless, I was put in a class that was only slightly harder than the other classes. Too slow, boring, etc. It's a problem when I learn more from a bunch of random books at the library than the class itself...

Then again my spiral downwards probably started in 5th grade when I was put in a class with the hardest teacher in the school. It was only hard because she constantly made us present projects and reports in front of everyone, and I ended up being ridiculed a lot by her. :)
