A job interviewer at a bookstore asked me "tell me about a time you showed innovation". Minimum wage, part time, temporary, unskilled labor, any old monkey job. "Innovation"? I didn't know there was so much room for "innovation" in a bookstore. Maybe they should ask "what is the patent number of your latest greatest scientific invention?"

My favorite questions are: "Why did you apply?" (um, money?), "Why are you the best candidate?" (Just tell me what you want me to say), "What are your negative traits?" (um, how is that helping my poisition), "Did you finish that extra education (worth 800 euros in Rome)?" or "Did you do this or that education?" (for that you need to be in the school system, but you're applying to be inferred into the system).

The world of employment is my biggest challenge in life. I just want a job where there aren't too many stupid rules and I'm not being hassled by bosses and I'm not being bullied by anyone and I have enough time each day to just get on with what I need to do.

I'm worrying about June the 1st onwards, because we're all going to be finishing at 9pm, no later, but we're expected to get 30 buses swept, cleaned, fuelled, washed and parked up in like two and a half hours. Then we'll all be waiting to get in the changing-room at the same time because we all want to get home.
I'm not entitled to a break because I only do 5 hours, so come 9 o'clock I'm going to be really hungry and just want to get home and have my dinner, but if all the work isn't going to get done in time then I'm going to be getting really anxious, probably leading to one of my panic attacks.

It annoys me how much of my time is taken up by the Jobcentre. If anything, they get in the way of finding employment.

I had a conversation with them today and I'm still peeved that the woman I spoke to told me that my driving lessons aren't a priority and that the centre should be my highest priority. Lady. Look around. Driving would absolutely help me expand my horizons.

Who are you to tell me my priorities? And why oh freaking why would you be my main one? The appointments aren't even helpful. I make more progress when I rebel against you enough to have freedom, but not enough that it has consequences.

Jobcentre staff are generally rather awful in my experience.

Some of them look like they shouldn't be there with their attitudes towards people who are typically struggling.

I remember one time when I was on job seekers I had to phone them and tell them I couldn't come to my appointment. Before I could explain why, they got shirty with me - until I told them that the reason I couldn't attend was because I had a job interview at that time. They soon changed their attitude then.

One time when I had a particularly bad advisor, I contacted them two days in advance to tell them that I would not be able to attend my appointment due to an interview.

My advisor changed my appointment to a phone appointment and set it to be five minutes after my interview was due to end. So I responded saying hey, that's no good. What if my interview lasts longer? Also, I'm going to be what? In their car park at that point? Next to a loud main road. In a place with bad phone signal. I don't want to be waiting around for a call either, I'll want to head home. So, I explained all that but she refused to move the appointment.

I left the interview. Checked my phone. Waited for a bit. Nothing. So, I went home. Checked. Waited. Nothing. I messaged. Still nada.

The next day I get a message demanding that I explain why I missed my call (absolutely nothing in my call log and I was sat waiting by the phone, if someone called they did not reach me but I did warn them that the phone signal was little to none and that they should rearrange).

So, I wrote them a very detailed essay explaining why I was unable to answer a call that I never received and timestamped when I sent messages telling my advisor not to call me in a bad signal area and that I had an interview. I was a bit snarky with it, I believe I wrote something about teleportation not being invented yet somewhere in there.

They let me off and put me with another advisor after that.

It was annoying at the time but funny in retrospect.

---

They keep making me come in for all these workshops lately and it really eats away at time that I could be spending putting in more applications. It's made me feel really weary.

I'm sick of it. One time I sacked 'em off for the day to work on improving my portfolio instead. They can't have all of my time, I have a life.

pretty soon, my dumpster fire "job" will have the nerve to make my worthless corpse redundant and i will have to get another job. whether the job is random or systematic, i don't have much of a choice. besides, i have a bad work history, zero job skills, autism, and et cetera. i'll be fortunate to even get *any* job, even mcdonalds. a minimum wage jobs with bad coworkers and bosses, a job that nobody aspires to.

i am so ashamed of myself.

some say "you can do anything you set your mind to." however, plenty of factors determine the outcome, not just effort: efficiency, health, longevity, social networking, discrimination, economy, physical strength, luck. things like that. saying "you can do anything you set your mind to", implies that people that are doing work that they did not want, must've done something wrong. but the reason why i am just a lot attendant, is NOT because i didn't set my mind to anything, and it is CERTAINLY NOT because i set my mind to being a Lot Attendant. the reason why i am just a lot attendant, is because "you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear." ("contrapositive")

(puke!)

licking envelopes might be better than some jobs, in that it's work from home and you can use a sponge and you can do it sitting down and zero customers. whatever.
