I have some excellent work-related news to share with everybody.
A few months ago, the director of economic development for the city I work for had submitted a proposal for a large tract of land that contains an abandoned power plant. The power plant is going to be demolished, and the land will be used for a new master-planned community.
I created the maps that showed the proposed master-planned community, and what tract of land it is going to occupy. Little did I know that the economic development director was submitting this proposal for a national symposium for economic developers. This morning, I found out that this was part of a contest for best proposal, and the city I work for had won the competition (for best city with a population under 50,000).
In other words, *my* maps are now *nationally* recognized. And that's not all--the proposal is now being entered in an *international* competition in New York City. (I will not be able to go because it is for economic developers, but it's still a great accomplishment).
I just thought everybody would like to hear that.
