Shows just how NTs can put us Aspies in the uncanny valley. For lower-fuctioning autistics, they might feel sorry for them, but for us, it can be like "Get this weird...thing...out....now!"

Many of my coworkers always want me to go clubbing and drink alcohol. I've always had a low opinion of booze, though. We had this DJ come in and play music in our bar area back in the winter, and I tried hanging out after work during then. But it was too crowded and loud for me to deal with. Not enough breathing room, too many drunken idiots (I'd much rather be around pot than booze--at least potheads are more relaxed), and very lousy music (My tastes in music consist of stuff nobody I know has heard of).

Personally, I've had enough of this NT dominated world. Maybe it's time for us to take over, after all we're the ones with all the brains! Aspie's unite!

I was lucky to have been an engineer and to work for a company that was heavily populated with others like me. If it hadn't been for that, I hate to imagine what my life might have been like.

Yeah, what AspieWolf said!

I've experienced most of what's on this list. Why can't people be more tolerant of quirks? I have also been told to my face I'm annoying, but my ex-boss never elaborated on what I was doing that annoyed him. Instead he expected me to fix what I was doing wrong just by telling me I was being annoying. If I knew what behavior(s) bugged him I could correct it.

Aspie Score: 173/200, NT score 31/200: very likely an Aspie
5/18/11: New Aspie test: 72/72
DX: Anxiety plus ADHD/Aspergers: inconclusive

I guess only 1 and 7 have really been a problem for me, but I haven't had many jobs, much less professional ones.

It seems the bigger problem is that employers exclude Aspies from being hired in the first place by making "who you know" more important than qualifications and expecting applicants to be outgoing and sociable. They even have those preliminary questionnaires where they ask you about that!

Face it, employers are screening us out.

That's a great article. It is sadly quite true.

One method, don't overinvest in a job. Invest in stages and see how it goes.

Had a boss recently who understood my condition and worked with me.
Allowed me to have a satellite room alone and would have meetings with me over email instead of with others.
They did him wrong and I am not under him anymore and working 3rd shift was killing my health so i cant go back.

4-9, 10, 11, 13-15.. are the ones I have experienced
