I'm a "veteran" systems engineer. I've been building and maintaining business computer networks and systems for the past 20 years. I am having increasing difficulty dealing with the corporate politics and general insensitivity of NT employers and coworkers. I've come to a point where I am somewhat fearful of going in to the office. I love doing my work, but the people are so difficult to understand and deal with.
I've gotten much better at playing my role, acting as if I care about their personal lives (or portions thereof), smiling on cue, etc. I just no longer care to spend my day pretending to be someone I'm not.
Has anyone heard of a good company who employs IT people in a telecommuting environment?
I would love to be able to work from my home, where I feel safe. I am great with phone conversations or customer service, as long as it doesn't require me to be face-to-face with the customer.

I thought of taking a job with Google. They allow you to telecommute full time (with the occasional home office visit for training, etc). I'm looking into it
