think about it... you are your own boss.... no one can fire you based on a mistake or being to slow... partnership/monetization
better than walmart or mcdonalds or staples.... or any 9-5 job :)

Good luck with that... the views I've accumulated with my partnered youtube channel since 1.5 years are worth, perhaps, 1 cent by now? Oh... I even doubt it. lol

parents are pushing the traditional job route that has failed before... 8O

To a certain point is that a hobby until you reach a certain income? Then it becomes a business?

I have no idea how you setup stuff like that or how much goes to taxes.

When I was a kid my dream was to earn a living playing video games all day.


There are now Youtubers who play games all day and upload the content, who can make 100k a year!

Partnership.
Basically, upload stuff frequently and/or get a lot of attention, and youtube will ask if you wanna upgrade your account.
My account is partnered and the income is pitiful. :P only reason I upgraded it is cause it removes the 20min limit...

Do humiliating/crazy s**t and put ads up. Or make like 85490480534809 videos of you talking and giving 3-6 minute lecture on a topic, and hope your stuff is controversial and entertaining enough (or sometimes knowledgeable) to have people listen to your tips/ramblings/advice about things. Lastly, you can make video responses of you just existing to every video you watch, monetize the videos, and again, have a few thousand videos you're spamming youtube with and make like $20 a month.

Oh well, you could also make it big and become a famous actor in Hollywood, too.

It's really hard to do- a friend of mine makes airsoft videos. He's been astonishingly successful with them, but he still works his normal job as well. Says it just about covers the camera gear he uses and that's it. And he has had over 120 million hits and has over 330,000 subscribers.
