When starting the induction process of your new job what are some subtle ways that ruin your chances of keeping the job? Not just the induction process but also when your starting out on the main job?

Gee, the whole idea of the induction process is learning about the requirements of the job. Your attitude should be about mastering what you have to do to perform the job to the requirements of your employer. If you do that, then keeping your job will take care of itself!

If it were only that simple .... One can learn the requirements of the job, do them well, and still "just not quite fit in." My advice is to be concerned about what you have control over and try not to worry too much about what is out of your hands. Easier said than done.

Trying to second guess the motivations of the work colleagues and bosses around you and tailor that to your work performance, will more likely get you fired than get you to keep your job.

Please don't try to defeat yourself before the game (the job) has even begun!

Just go to the orientation with an open mind, knowing that you will do well.
