About 10 years ago, I used to live by myself and work temp jobs in the wildlife field just fine. But now I want to do it again.... But now I'm married (no kids)... Hes sick and should stay behind... But not only does he want to come with me, but he wants to be near me as I work " to keep me safe"

Im having major problems with this!

Should a spouse go to work with their mates to "protect" them?

And he gets agitated when hes not in the same room as me

It's some kind of control/insecurity issue, I think. Is he long-term sick? Maybe also depressed?

be honest with him. tell him that working is important to you and you want to be able to do for yourself and you don't need him to watch you 24/7.
