Hi everyone

I just thought I'd share this little story of something that happened this morning. I took my daughter (being assessed for ASD, probably Aspergers) to school and she went off and played in the playground. I then spotted her sitting on the grass, alone, looking really glum. She was upset at one of her failed interactions with another child. As I was trying to cheer her up, one of her classmates came over. He wanted to know what was wrong and to see if he could help. She was really happy, showed him a toy she had with her and they went off together. I was over the moon for her. Who was this lovely caring little boy? He was the only child in the class with a diagnosis of Aspergers.

I feel that this was a wonderful story and if people can't find anything nice to say, they shouldn't post in this thread.

Well, I felt elated when it happened this morning, both for my daughter and the boy. I could have added more about the negative side - this little boy is being removed from the school next term and placed in a specialist autism unit, as the school can't deal with his apparent lack of social skills. But, my intention was to start a positive thread.

I thought it was great. On a tough day it really helps to read positive stuff like this.

Tantricbadass, this is the parent's forum and we come here to support eachother. You are more than welcome to your opinion and can poke fun at us over on the teen forum if you like but I ask you to please not come here just to make sarcastic comments.

lovely story - thanks for sharing! :) I find it so wonderful whenever my 4yo son actually has some positive interaction with other children (apart from siblings) and actually enjoys friends.

I don't know where you live...but here in CA, it is illegal to remove a child from the school for such reasons. Perhaps you could relay your story to the principal.

Very nice story by the way. My son was always good to all other children when he was attending public school (home schooled now).

Thanks. There appears to have been a mutual agreement between the parents and the school. The parents want to try the other school, with the full support of the current school. 'Remove' was perhaps a strong word.
