Are there any good children's books that explain autism? I'm autistic, and would like if my 6-year-old nephew could at least understand what it is. But I'm terrible at communicating, and the rest of my family isn't sure how to explain it to him either.

(Also, I'm less and less certain that he's an "NT child", but that's another issue!)

There is an Arthur episode that teaches kids about Aspergers that could be helpful. It even uses the "wrong planet" metaphor!

'All Cats have Aspergers" was a helpful book for my younger NT kids, and I think it might apply across the spectrum.
