Our son suffers anxiety during quiet times at school which result in him making loud noises, fidgeting, etc. We also have this problem at home, often at meal times. He is generally uncomfortable with quiet situations. I can play background music at home, but when away from home, or at school it can be a real problem sometimes.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what might help? I know the school wouldn't allow any personal stereo or anything like that because he would become too distracted and obsessed with it.

Maybe encourage him to doodle or write during quiet times. That way, he will be busy, but quiet.

He needs constant stimulation his mind is constantly on, analyzing, etc... you probably knew that... but, I don't know how to solve it... if you find out let me know... I'd like to know for myself...

i wonder if the teacher would allow some quiet background music during quiet time. like mozart or something. worth asking about anyways.
