Hm, I only just noticed this post.

Anyway, I've been a huge fan of Mario since I was just a kid. I know all the characters, have played most of the games; the only ones I didnt like were Galaxy 1 & 2, and that was for.... very undefined reasons. Seriously, I was never quite sure why. And Mario is one of my favorite protagonists in any game series.

And then there's Bowser... easily one of my favorite characters in gaming, like Mario, and one of the best villain characters out there... without being TOO nasty. It's interesting, he's alot like King Dedede in that while he can be an absolute jerk, he never REALLY hurts anyone and even saves the others every now and then. He just wants to control everything, because why not. That and he wants to irritate Mario as much as possible. Also he's hilarious.

All in all, the whole series is just wonderful. I was SO completely excited when Mario Maker came out, too. That... was pretty much the perfect game for me and something I'd wanted since I was a kid. I can understand certain complaints some people have had with it (not enough enemies/objects to choose from) but still, I love it. Super Mario 3D World also came out really well. I really need to go back and play through it all the way... it was actually Mario Maker that distracted me from it.

What always got me was some of the non-platformer games in the series... they seem so normal nowadays but they were almost surreal way back when. Like, the *original* Mario Tennis... which was on the Virtual Boy. Talk about a funky experience, I'll never forget what that was like. And now Mario has been in just about everything. Mario Golf was another fun one, for the most part.

Super Mario Bros was the first real video game I owned. Before I got my NES for Christmas 1989, I had only played those electronic games that consist of just one game and is played as it is.

I loved SMB! I was smitten with it, and when I was stuck somewhere, I would pace in the school yard during recess and think about it and wonder how I could get past the newest hurdle. I was so preoccupied when I played that, that I tried to look around the corners for upcoming dangers to the point where I almost fell out of the chair (I'm not kidding), and at times I did small jumps along with him or leaned the same way I was having Mario go, because I was so into it and trying so hard it just happened automatically. I played with every ounce of my being lol. Boy, to be 12 and living the games again like that!

I also really liked SMB2, SMB3 and Super Mario Land and Super Mario World. Mario 64 was also okay, but it has lost the oomph it had since then. I haven't liked the new games nearly as much as the old ones.

My dad had bought the Atari 2600 when it came out (before I was born), and I remember seeing the commercials for the NES on TV...I was amazed at how the cartridges went in sideways and popped down =P

Then we were at someone's house, and my dad got to play SMB for himself...we went out to buy one immediately.

I really like the Mario games- but mainly the old ones. Favorites are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario RPG.

Super Paper Mario is my favorite one.
Lots of people hate it for not being a proper sequel to TTYD. I honestly don't care.

I loved mario but I stopped playing it after Super Mario 64. I honestly can't say why!!

I think my fav games in all the platformers, would be either SMW, Sunshine, or SMB3.

Yeah I love most of the platformer games. There's only a few games I haven't played. Super Mario World is probably my favourite of the 2D games, and Galaxy my favourite of the 3D ones. I'm not a huge fan of the New Super Mario series or the 3D World/Land games, to me they're a bit of a step backward after the Galaxy games. I also don't really like any of the weird control mechanics the Wii or Wii U have like collecting Starbits in Galaxy or blowing on the Wii U gamepad, they feel really contrived. I would really love to see another game in the style of Galaxy.

Outside of the platforming games the only Mario game I really play with any sort of frequency is Mario Kart. I'm actually not a huge fan of these games and I rarely play single player, but they are really good games to play in local multiplayer.

I played Super Mario RPG and some of the Paper Mario 64 and enjoyed them, but I played one of the later in the series for the 3DS, can't remember which, and stopped playing because it was awful. It's rare that I feel like Nintendo make a stinker but I wasn't happy with how that series ended up getting more and more simplified.

If anything, I actually think SPM has the best story in the entire franchise.

I actually started obsessing over Mario games just a few days ago. Lately I have been emulating everything from the original Super Mario Brothers for the NES to Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii on my PC and I have a long list of Mario games that I will be playing. I have always loved Mario games, and the nostalgia of playing through these old games it pretty awesome. After I finish Super Mario World and Super Mario Galaxy I will play their respective squeals and then go on to play Super Mario Sunshine and and Luigi's Mansion.

I'm in the middle of a Zelda obsession right now, but I really enjoy Mario games. My favorite would probably be Super Mario Galaxy, mainly because of the music. I made my own CD of the music from that game, and I play it every day in the car going to and from school, and I find myself constantly humming it. Besides having awesome music, it looks very pretty and surreal, and it's fun to play. The only thing I have against it is that it's too easy and didn't give me much of a challenge.
