My main problem is that I tend not to realise I'm being attacked until I'm at least half dead :P

I've never been very good at 3D platform games. I got mario 64 for my DS and couldn't get past the first level. I didn't have much better luck with Spyro.

That's why I mostly play simulation and strategy games (e.g. the sims 2, roller coaster tycoon 3, harvest moon, creatures (by gameware), and a few others).

I'm quite the opposite - I'm rather good at FPS's (First Person Shooters) and video games in general, and my firing isn't wild.
If you have co-ordination problems and want to play FPS's, try sniping in the games, cos you don't have to fire as fast, so it may be easier to play.

I remember when we first got our NES, I had to keep looking down to remember which button was A and which one was B, but that's about it as far as traditional games go.

Music games, however, that's a different story. I'm still working on coordinating the whole arm/foot thing with Rock Band drums :x

The only games I really have problems with are real time strategy, and nascar racing

All of that gets better with practice - I used to be terrible at games like Metroid Prime because I could never figure out how to hit the enemies, but after a bit of practice I nearly mastered the combat system.

One of my favorite games of all time now is an arcade shooter - when I first picked up the gun for it I could barely hit 3 enemies without being killed, but now I can basically make it through the entire game on $1 unless I'm playing co-op with a newbie. =P

The only games I have a hard time with are FPS games, and thats mainly because I cant aim very fast or I'll overaim, and by the time I can land some hits I'm dead, both on console and PC games, although I seem to do better on consoles for some reason. In games with a cover system, I tend to do a little better since I have more time to aim.

Any thing on the Wii that requires any sort of pointing acuracy, that damn curser flies about ALL over the screen, when im trying to keep it still!! (nintendo hates those of us who have hand tremors)
especially Okami i start off badly, start getting frustrated tremors get worse! if anyone saw me on that thing at my worst, they'd probably think i was having a mild fit of something!
i also get problems moving from my 360 and PS2, as i keep having to look at the buttons
final fantasy XII's fishing game is imposible, i only just managed to get to the second level,
it went a little like this: duttons to press apear on screan appear, i look at them for ages trying to process them :? , look down to the joypad :? , look back up, times nearley up 8O panic even more then press R2 instead of L1
sometimes i even have to look down for the d-pad  (it could use any of 12 buttons 8O )
even though i have had 100% on granturismo games i guess its more instinctive when a direction button moves in that direction, instead of turning it ino a mere symbol

I used to have quite alot of trouble with controlers and such, especialy with being able to remember what buttons to press. But after a few years I guess I have developed some fairly good physical memory where my hands seem to be able to remember and know button combinations and able to plan and pull of some good acts, such as playing Halo compared to others I have seen I have quite the skill at being to move and shoot well at the same time, somthing I could not used to do. On other notes I am usualy quite bad at sniping as I guess it is some of those finer movement, and also in fighting games I am absolutly terrible at working out large fighting combos. Though I am no good with coordination on keyboured so I suck at computer games.

To be honest, FPS's (especially in multiplayer) are incredibly boring... there's no sense of group cohesion or tactics... I very much prefer RTS games for the strategic angle they provide...

Well I have played some Halo matches that have involved teamwork quite a bit. It can be quite fun when you talk over your headset and comunicating with your team where there is a trouble spot, who to be careful of, the opponent strategy and also talking to each other about a specific strategy to use. And there have been times that I have come across opposing teams that look like they treat it too serously and use amazing team work, though it felt very unfair that they made am almost unbreakable wall of offence and defence with a sniper with amazing coordination.

I am not very good at RTS as I find it difficult to have to go through several different things, as I find it hard to not go either all attack or totaly think in a longterm strategy. Plus my screen always gets lost from finding battles, how are do you control those things it is too confusing.

Unless you're talking about the PC version, this has less to do with coordination and more to do with the fact that the 360 controller was not designed to play FPS. Most of the controls are set to face buttons, and unless you keep your pointer finger up there (which believe me, is not comfortable or practical) there's no way to press them and keep your thumb on the right analogue stick at the same time. When my friends play Halo 3, I have to change my button config to "bumper jumper" I think it's called...it sets grenades, jump, fire, and melee to the R and L buttons, making it much easier to "multitask".

As for sniping with an analogue joystick, you'd have to lower the sensitivity a whole lot...and I don't know how possible that is without destroying your turning speed. I haven't really messed with joy sensitivity since the N64 days. I don't even know if games still offer the option.
