All the Final Fantasy fanboys constantly claim that 6 and 7 and the essential titles. While I have respect for what those games have to offer, FF4 is my all-around favorite in the series.

Pokemon games that aren't main series, like Mystery dungeon, Pokemon Ranger, Conquest and Gameboy Color's Trading Card Game (Gad I wish they would make a new TCG for the 3DS with the oh so many new cards that are out now!)

Rune factory

F-Zero

^Explorers of Sky and Rune Factory 4 are two of my favourite games ever! I like Sky because I like exploring and strategy, but I don't like the main series' battling much, so I mostly just collect my favourites and play Pokemon Amie in X and Omega Ruby.

Gameplay-wise it's one of the most unique games in the series, especially for a 3D entry. I usually prefer the 2D games myself, but Wind Waker is pretty cool. I still need to get a Wii U for the copy of Wind Waker HD I have.

Oh boy! You don't know how wrong you are! :roll:

Depends on how you mean "infested". If you define infested as superfluous micro-transactions that aren't an organic part of the experience? Then YES...it's infested.

If you consider anything with micro-transactions groovy so long as "Pay To Win" isn't involved? Then you might consider Overwatch relatively benign.

Also, Thank God for Jim! :wink:

The Quest for Glory series is an old point and click adventure game that, 95% of the time at least, is completely forgotten by everyone except me.

Yeah, I now you like them too :) It's nice to have another fan to talk to about those games on here. I had no idea you didn't like the battling in the main series though! I like the battling (I just wish we could teach Pokemon more than 4 moves).
I too like exploring though :D (as long as I have a map lol! or can teleport/dig myself back to the entrance.) That's one of the things that makes dungeon crawlers so much fun.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. I never quite understood why people tend to dislike it so much. I enjoy it alot.

I really like Earthbound. I've heard that it was never very popular outside of Japan, but I have little idea why a person wouldn't want to play it. I think I remember someone saying that a lot of it had to do with the graphics. But I found them really cool. I guess some people think they're too simplistic.

I also played the Japanese version of Mother 3, which is the sequel to Earthbound and was never released in English. I tried to play Earthbound Beginnings on the Wii U, but, as a NES game, it was too boring for me.

Now some Earthbound fans are creating an unofficial game called Mother 4. They have done a really great job. You should see the sample graphics on their blog. It's a really good looking game and it doesn't use the RPGMaker series. It's actually built from the ground up.

Gemini000 once reviewed the VGA remake of the first game on an episode of Ancient DOS Games.

Ancient DOS Games, or ADG for short, is an awesome web series that reviews games made for the MS DOS operating system, as well as providing insight into the programming, game design, and technical aspects of these games. It also provides tips for running these games on modern operating systems, usually in the form of DOSBox configuration settings.

yeah i always found earthbound, earthbound 2 and mother 3 really good (using the fan translation version of mother 3) the combat was fun and it was really....engrossing, like you could really feel the world around you and how dark it was.

I agree that Mother 3 had a very interesting world. The graphics really brought out the darkness of the storyline and it always felt like the villains were out to get you. It was more laid back in Mother 2. In Mother 2, you could relax and just explore without feeling like the walls were closing in on you. I enjoyed both environments, but I always preferred the happier, funnier feel of Mother 2.

I am hoping that Nintendo will release Mother 3 in English someday, but I'm not sure if that day will ever come. As it was, I was shocked that Nintendo decided to release Mother 1 outside of Japan.

* Space/Flight simulators (FSX, KSP)

* Grand strategy games (Europa Universalis 4)

* (Zombie) Survival games (7 DTD, State of Decay, Project Zomboid)

* Business simulators (Capitalism 2)

* Hunting Simulators (Cabelas Big Game Hunter, The Hunter)

When it comes to MMO's i usually just run into the wild and explore instead of doing quests. I remember visiting Coldharbour and soloing lvl 50 mobs @ lvl 37 in Elderscrolls Online with my Battlemage. I love exploring (Unlike most other people) and i've played many MMO's just to make maps of them all with all the cool stuff i found that most other will never see.

Zombie simulators? I'm pretty sure those are some of the most popular games in the industry. It's only recently that people have started to tire of the genre, yet they still sell like hotcakes. They don't even have to be anywhere near finished to make their profits.
