New Sonic Games

So yesterday at Sonic's 25th anniversary party, two new games were revealed (Sonic Mania and Project Sonic 2017). Any thoughts about them? (Games like Sonic Boom Fire and Ice and Lego Dimensions are eligible for discussion as well).

my opinion? if they are anything like the original sonic games (basically, the not sonic boom games) they will be awesome, im a bit biased though as i LOVE anything sonic, i even liked sonic boom on the 3ds (fire and ice looks good and fun). i personally look forward to these games i always love new sonic games (except sonic boom on Wii u * shudder *) so im glad that they are continuing on, funny that some people i know are calling it a sonic reboot, because its being revived from the sonic boom thing.

i just want to see more gameplay

"from the team that brought you sonic generations" thats all they needed to say, that game was FANTASTIC.

project sonic 2017, drool, looks fantastic graphics wise, gameplay looks almost film like, so smooth. i really think sonic team have out done themselves, this could be the king of all sonic games. hell they both could be. next year i just wish project sonic will be on PC, as i wont be able to afford an NX or anything like that while im in uni

After the failure of the anticipated Sonic Boom (or as i call it Sonic '06 Part Deux), I really thought the franchise would continue to decline.When the trailer for Project Sonic 2017, I found hope! Although if the rush production at the last moment like they did with '06 and boom, we'll be faced with Sonic '06 Part Trois.

Personally, I think both games look pretty great : ) Easily the saving grace of that laughably bad livestream they had leading up to the reveal of the two games. I was a little worried at first. I thought Sonic Mania was the big 25th anniversary game Sega had been hyping up for a year. And it seemed a bit anticlimactic to release what I thought at the moment looked like a glorified romhack. Sure the game had some excellent spritework, the music was awesome, and the gameplay looked fun. But it just seemed lacking. When Project Sonic 2017 was revealed that game looked amazing and got me hyped for both games. Although I was puzzled as to why classic sonic was there when Takashi Izuka said this game wasn't going to be a sequel to Sonic Generations. Hopefully we get some new on why classic sonic is there eventually.

I'm really glad that Sega is trying to cater to both classic and modern sonic fans. I grew up with the Sonic Adventure games, so I'm glad to see that the game at least looks to have a similar tone to those games so far. There's not really much else I can say about that since we were only shown a little over a minute of the game.

I'll probably at least get one of the games since they're both on PC. I can't afford an Xbox One or a PS4, and there's no way I'll be able to afford an NX : p

Will Sticks be there? I started with the Sonic Boom games, and maybe thats why she's my favorite. She's so cute!

Mania has already gone BEYOND drool-worthy to me. On a funnier note, what could possibly be up with Sonic's face here...?!


Project 2017 seems to be more of the same Generations formula - not that that's bad in and of itself - but with a more original, slightly darker storyline. All I would honestly ask is that Sega lays their life on the line for playable Tails and Knuckles, both playstyles. Is that so hard?! #FreeSonicsFriends2017

I really hope we aren't having another solo sonica game. Unleashed, Colors, Generations, and Lost World felt very lacking with Sonic being the only playable character, as well as one of the only important characters in all of those games. Which didn't help much given how mixed I feel about the newer games writing style.

Also I'm pretty sure Sonic's face is his reaction to the recent IGN video about those guys discussing Sonic who claimed that he was never good : p
