Quatermass, what's the best way to defeat Kefka in Final Fantasy VI?

You mean the final form, or all of them? Personally, I just levelled up and had everyone learn Ultima, and spammed Ultima. This was on the PS1 version, mind, not the GBA version. So I will mainly be using terms from the PS1 version.

You gotta look out for, I think 'Reverse Polarity' in the first form, which reverses your party formation. Kill the face first to avoid earth-based attacks. The shorter arm is deadly too.

In the second form, make sure you keep your health up, as when one of the enemies in this form dies (the 'Hit' target), it will inflict 10 physical hits in a row.

Third form, kill the 'Girl' target before taking out 'Sleep', or she'll use Life 2 or Full-Life on 'Sleep'.

Final form, just basically spam your best attacks. The 'Fallen One' or 'Heartless Angel' attack will reduce everyone's HP to 1, so get ready to heal ASAP. He also uses Train, and his ultimate attack is Goner, which will appear when you see a message (either "The End Comes, Beyond Chaos', or 'The End Draws Near') and then a disembodied head appear below Kefka's hand. The Goner attack is spectacular, and causes magical damage.

Here's a tip: Life 2, Life 3, Meteor and Ultima are the best to have in this situation. If you don't have any means to get these, level up and learn as much magic as possible. X-Magic and X-Fight are also excellent.

Okay, character-specific strategies:

Terra: Use magic. Save Morph until you need it.

Locke: While you can steal swords and items from Kefka's forms, don't bother. Use physical attacks and magic.

Gau: Magic, or a Rage that you are familiar with.

Edgar: Physical attacks, magic, or Tools are good.

Sabin: The Blitz techniques are best used in conjunction with magic, but Sabin's strength is his, well, strength. If you have Bum Rush, use it.

Celes: Magic all the way.

Shadow: Physical attacks, magic, and if you have a good supply of throwable weapons, Throw a lot.

Setzer: Magic. Use Slots if you're confident.

Mog: I'm not sure about using Dances, but if he know good magic, by all means use him.

Strago: Magic, and if he has a very good repertoire, Lore/Blue Magic.

Relm: Magic, unless you've skimped beefing her levels up.

Umaro: Bit of a wild-card. Keep him in absolute reserve, and equip him with his best stuff.

Gogo: Use if you must.

Thanks. I'll teleport out of Kefka's tower and get Ultima and Phantom Rush (as it's called in the GBA version). Unfortunately I don't have Shadow. And I've leant the game to my friend so I'll save this strategy until I get the game back. Thanks again QM.

I'll have to go back and get him. Do you get him in Narshe?

I believe so. You have to choose, I think, between the Ragnarok sword or the Esper Ragnarok. Choose the Esper.

Hmm, sorry. Haven't played Spiderman 3. You know where GameFAQs is?

Thanks Quatermass. Oh, I forgot to ask... What jobs should I use when fighting the Two-Headed Dragon, Echidna etc.?

Quatermass, what's the best place to get Megalixirs in Final Fantasy VI. I've now started a new strategy to get myself up to high levels and have everyone know Ultima. All I need are enough Megalixirs to heal everyone on the Final stage of the Kefka battle.
