I used to be able to complete most games on PCs but since I started playing things on the PS2 I feel like I don't get proper closure.

There's a lot of games that I just can't finish because they're too hard.
Some of them I can't even get past the first couple of levels.

Is this just my pathetic gameplay abilities or do other people have the same problems...

If you get stuck for too long, can it trip a near meltdown?

I used to beat about 90% of games I played when I was younger. I was also decidedly anti-walkthrough. After I turned 22 or so, for some reason, I stopped. I rarely beat games now. I have heaps of games that I have played and stopped without beating. I don't mind cracking open the walkthrough if I begin to stuck, either. The only games I've beaten recently are really short ones, like Portal and CoD4.

I used to finish a lot more games than I do now. I don't usually get stuck for long. If anything, games are a lot easier for me now than they used to be. I just get sidetracked by a new game or activity before I finish the old one. There are more games to play, and less time to play them.

That's what I miss about my Atari 2600: the game's finished when the damn thing breaks.

That actually made for some horribly depressing scenarios: In Missile command, you always fail, leaving nothing but scorched Earth. In the instruction manual for Defender, it actually says, "The game is over when all your ships are destroyed and the aliens conquer the Earth". No wonder Super Mario captured our hearts, after telling us 7 times she was in another castle.

Pretty much all of my early games got clocked. Nowdays I get bored or stuck and I simply cbf'd. :P

If I stuck at them, then i'd probably get them done.

I complete most of my games although a few, like Super Smash Bros. Melee and Spiderman 2 I haven't completed for various reasons.

I managed to complete Crash Bandicoot XS with 101% before, and Metroid Prime 3 with every item on my first try.

I've decided not to buy any more games for my 360 until I've finished what I've got. I have 13 Xbox 360 games and I have finished 6.

What really annoys me is just how unfair these games are....

I mean, you're fighting using this little baby character and all the monsters are several times your size.... then they have to have a gun or something that you don't have, and traps in their rooms etc...

I mean, how insecure is that?

And... I hate it when the baddies kill me and then have a cut-scene where they laugh at you, then another cut-scene to restart...

I don't mind being laughed at for dying a couple of times, but after the first 20 times or so it becomes really annoying (and somewhat offensive).

Once I pass a game, I never play it again.

I was the exact opposite: one of my fixations was re-beating the same NES and Gameboy games over and over, especially Megaman and Supermarioland.

Never really made the transition to more complex stuff though. Now it's almost entirely the newest mineral of Pokemon, and I haven't even played that since November.

I sometimes replay games when I'm bored.

I finish games about 95% of the time. About half of the games I don't finish I don't finish because I move onto a better game.

Probably the hardest games I can think of that I've played through are Mario Bros 2 - The Lost Levels and Cave Story. Note both of those are platformer type games. A lot of the games I play nowadays are RPGs, which are rarely difficult.

That said, whenever a game has multiple difficulty settings I rarely play on the hardest settings unless I really enjoy the game.

I usually beat games within a month of getting them - the only two exceptions to date are Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario 64 (the original). It must be stated I was only 8 when playing the latter. The quickest time it's ever taken me to beat a game is my most recent one, The Simpsons Game, in just three days.

I try to finish all the games I purchase but sometimes I stray to other games during the process and neglect to finish them. Over the years, I've probably completed about 180+ games, some mutilple times over.

If I'm bored, I'll play my brother's 360, not my consoles.
