Ok, I have a challenge for those of you who played Super Smash Bros Brawl. I have tried to find the answer in many of the gaming sites, but none of them know.
Apparently there are three ways to unlock Sonic:
1. Get Sonic to join your party in Subspace Emissary
2. Complete 300 vs matches
3. Beat Classic mode with 10 different characters
The problem: I unlocked Sonic, but I did not satisfy any of the conditions above. He randomly showed up for me to beat after a vs match with my brother. How in the world did I unlock Sonic? I have one theory I found somewhere: that you can unlock him after resetting a certain number of matches (that is, pressing a certain combination of four buttons while paused during a match), and then completing a match to have Sonic appear. The way I see it, this is the only method of unlocking him that I could have possibly used (I'm not certain).
Does anyone else know of a fourth way to unlock Sonic, or can anyone confirm that the whole resetting thing works?
