Probably not. My DS Lite still works fine and the DSi doesn't have a slot for me to play my GBA games.

yea its best to keep your DS lite if you still want to play GBA games they had to remove the gba port to make it smaller and speaking of new products Nintendo has a bad habit at making new systems left and right to soon.

Actually they've circumvented that already

What are all the features of the old DS lite anyway? (I don't know if I even use them all, I've heard people mention things that I'd never heard of until now when I was reading this forum.) And will people still be able to use their DS lite for games made for the DSi?

Unknown at this point...they've said DSi games will be backwards compatible, but won't be able to use certain features (like the camera), but I don't think any DSi exclusive games have been announced yet, besides the downloadable ones (which obviously won't work on a regular DS).

Nah, no DSi for me..
I got a black DS Lite at christmas. I have the bulky one.. but some games were to dark on that one.
Still, the DSiware is interesting.. i mean, what if some sequel of a old classic game (like MegaMan 9) is a "only-release" on DSi-ware? Well i have a Wii, but sadly i'll miss the DSiWare..

That's the main reason I'm not getting it. Besides, I like my Nintendo DS (not a Lite) and it still works.

I'm probably going to get one, but thats more because my DS fat has an absolutely horrible battery. Holds less than an hour and a half. Considering its not in that great shape, and I have a gameboy player for my gba games, I may as well go with a new DSi instead of a new battery.

The group that exploited the wii already took a short look at the DSi, so with luck it'll be just as easy to softmod as the wii was(and without flash carts/mod chips).

If they release a virtual console equivelent for portable games, then I'd be sold.

Also, for those who say its little more over the DS... your not factoring in the fact that the processor in it is over double the clock rate(67 mhz on DS, 133 mhz on DSi) and has more ram(4mb in DS, 16mb in DSi), so its more along the lines of a DS 2 than a mildly upgraded DS lite.

I bought my DS Lite 3 months ago. Maybe I would buy a DSi, when prices go down.

I hope DSi could be exploited and softmoded soon :)

My old DS is broken, so I need to buy a new one. However, I will be buying a new DS Lite, not the DSi. Why? Because I think the omission of the GBA slot is pointless.

I just did a limited-time deal at Gamestop to trade in a DS-Lite for $70 towards a brand new DSi. It cost me $100 for a new black one.

I don't care at all about the lack of a GBA cartridge slot. They're a lot more fun on the Gamecube Gameboy-Player in progressive-scan mode on my Sony 36" CRT-HDTV. :)
