There is a democratic mechanism for removing Governor Abbott. Texas seems to lack a recall mechanism outside of election.

While there might be room in a Westminster-style system for petitions to oust individual elected officials, it’s not clear who this petition would be aimed at in a Texan context. Is there anyone Abbott answers to, other than the voters at election time?

If it is found that he committed an "impeachable" offense, he can be impeached.

Impeachment and removal from office are two separate processes.

I'm well aware of that....Impeachment is only an indictment.

This is the only way to get him out given voter suppression and gerrymandering, without having to worry about Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick taking over.

that is because abbott is IMHO a bright and clever sociopath, while the other guy was considerably duller and more inept, as well as less antisocial.

I mean, if you do not live in Texas, then what is the point of signing the petition?

As long as the pro-Trump GOP runs Texas, we will not get anywhere.

Democrats have been basically shut out of politics, and moderate Republicans can’t make it past the primaries because they didn’t “menshun Gawd” enough times.

I guess we can forget marijuana being legal and fornication being mandatory.

Remember last year when Seattle had CHAZ-CHOP? Mayor Durkan even called it the “summer of love”. Even if cities in Texas supported something similar (none do—not even Austin), Abbott would send the Air National Guard to drop napalm in the area.

Where’s Houston’s Naked Bike Ride? Where’s Houston’s chapter of the Center for Sex-Positive Studies? Where’s Houston’s version of CHAZ-CHOP? Or any other city in Texaa?
