People racist in front of me because they think I'm white.

The Irish are a nationality and an ethnic group. They are not a race. Being Irish is not genetically inherited.

I occasionally get this from people who think that an interest in firearms automatically equates to a racist outlook. I usually find an excuse to bring up my (black) wife before they embarrass themselves too much, the obvious discomfort is always good for a laugh.
