Just thought you might want to look at those two statements together.

The fact that people have such strong opinions on these things is another thing that puts me off ever getting pregnant. Everyone knows better than the mother.

And it is the father's job to tell them all to back off! :-)

This has been true since the dawn of time. nothing new here :-)

I don't trust my partner enough to do that job. I'm sure there are other women with no partner or whose partners are part of the problem.

Just because something has always occurred doesn't make it right, either.

The issue here is the potential demonization of women who bottlefeed, even when it's medically necessary. There has been a shift in perspective from a demonization of breastfeeding (also bad) to it going the other way in recent years. Most of this demonization has been done by women.

It's almost like women are competitive about every aspect of childbirth, now. I've heard women bragging about not needing any painkillers, giving birth at home or eating specific diets when pregnant (as opposed to following cravings). Blah blah blah. I realise people are perfectionistic and want to get such an important thing in their life right, but they don't half go on about it to other women. It's very boring to listen to and make you feel like unnatural crap. Those sort of women are amongst breast nazis, not just lactation experts.

Well, my baby never ended up in hospital.
Have a nice life.
Hope you find a job soon.

While I don't feel inadequate at all, you do realize that that is the most condescending and belittling thing you could have written? I think you do, and it speaks volumes.

How many men do you know that give birth and breastfeed?

That's not the point, and if you can't see that in what I posted, then I am not sure that there is any point in further participation in this discussion.
