Reuters: Kissinger says impressed by China's 'calm reaction' to Trump's Taiwan call

I guess Obama sent Kissinger in to stay the course.

Leftist support independence for Tibet and don't care about the president meeting with the Dalai Lama in the White House, a lot of hypocrisy on the issue but I think it mostly comes down to the haters grasping to make a story out of anything. I don't think the PRC is going to flip their **** over something so petty as a phone call, their leaders are a lot smarter than ours and see our politics/democracy in general as absurd which is why they don't take everything Trump says literally in the most sensational way like his 'threat' to slap a 35% tariff against Chinese goods which is also a lot more serious than simply receiving a phone call.

Once again, we sell billions in weapons to Taiwan so this idea that what Trump did is so out of protocol is just not true. No we will not be intimidated by the communist Chinese about who we are allowed to talk to and our relationship with Taiwan is great leverage to have over the PRC, everything is negotiable. Perhaps if China wants the US to back away from Taiwan maybe they should reel in their puppet state North Korea which threatens it's neighbors with nuclear destruction almost daily.

Asia is going to be a hot spot in the future, Japan will remilitarize which is why Shinzo Abe was one of the first leaders to meet with Trump since that has always been his desire for Japan. North Korea isn't going anywhere any time soon and these countries have a right to defend themselves. For all the talk about supporting our allies we've seen some of the biggest non-NATO allies drift away from our orbit in Egypt, Turkey, and the Philippines which is something Trump is already looking to reverse.

The PRC flips its lid every time Taiwan is given even a small favor.

Trump really needs good foreign-affairs advisors---otherwise, he just might offend the wrong person.

Freak china. So tired of their super PC. They messed up the new red dawn movie cause they found it offensive. dont see Russia complaaboht wing the bad guys in just about every action movie and video game.

China doesn't rule us, as much as they'd like to.
