I agree with Astrogeek too, bearing in mind what DW_a_mom says. We took our daughter to a civil partnership ceremony, between two men, last year, when she 5yrs. In Scotland, a civil partnership gives the partners the very same rights as a married couple, the only difference is in the name of the ceremony. We needed to give our daughter very little explanation. She knows the men love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. They wanted their family and friends to celebrate the commitment to their union, by having a nice party. Simple.
