The bible is truth, the reason you cant believe God is because Romans 9:16 states He has mercy on whom he wants and hardens whom he wants.

May I ask if you are a Jehovah's Witness? Your posts seem very reminiscent of their teachings. No need to reply if you don't want to - don't want to embarrass you.

no J.Ws reject the literal fire of hell, which jesus made very clear in several verses thourghout the N.T

Mormon?

nope, they claim that men will be gods of there own planet which is a lie, and they say god makes it a sin to drink coffee/alcohol

Baptist? ... Your posts indicate fundamentalism; I'm just wondering which flavour Christian you are.

I never claimed to be an atheist. I am pointing out the god of the bible is a monster. Which your post just confirmed. He arbitrarily selects who to harden which he then sends to hell for an eternity to punish. that is a monster. He is worse then Satan.

and if evolution doesn't really happen, then the God of the Bible is a malicious trickster too for planting so much evidence of so many different types that clearly show it DOES happen, especially since the price of our being deceived by God is eternal damnation!

And seaweasel, gravity is "just a theory" exactly as much as evolution is "just a theory." Do you doubt the existence of gravity too? Theory has a different meaning in science than it does in colloquial speech.

You sound like you're a new convert to the Christian faith and in the honeymoon phase right now, with all the pride and arrogance of being a "true Christian". You are not really being much of a "light for Christ" and you're just here to satisfy your ego and, thereby, divert us away from Christ. If you already realize this, then your posts here are not helping your Christian cause, so what's the point?

If you want a debate, then engage us in a debate.

If you're here to preach, you're not likely to get any converts with that kind of attitude.

So either way, you need to change your style around here if you want to get something out of this other than boosting your ego.

Baptist is possible, but if not, he's still definitely an "evangelical born again Christian" (Baptists are just one subgroup of them).

^^^^ Your religion seems to involve wearing a hood resembling an inverted teacup but am not sure if it involves any vows of chastity, silence or anything else... not likely!

I don't know what you mean about a teacup, but I think it's time to put the kettle on.

^^^ Because only one ear of the "monkey hood" is visible in the pic, so I'm reminded of the handle of a teacup.

Enjoy your tea. It seems you have the British habit of drinking tea whenever you've been hard at work posting on this forum or whatever else! Do you use a lot of sugar, or sans sugar, judging your inherent sweetness to suffice? :D

The bible is indeed self evident. As we can see there is no way there can be life without a super natural diety
"Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals," Genesis 1:25

Let's suppose for a minute that that were true, which I don't think it is. How does it then follow that this supernatural deity must be the God of the bible and not one of the multitude of other gods from other religions, including many polytheistic pagan religions?

seaweasel wrote:
We were created in God's image. Now if we go to the New Testament we can see a warning about false teachers and false prophets

What is God's image? If we were all sapient horses instead of primates then God would look like a horse.

seaweasel wrote:
The bible has its own internal consistency such as the prophecies of Jesus
I Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

and the prophecie of the return of Jesus Christ in Revelation

We've waited 2000 years for Jesus to return. It's a good bet that it won't happen any time soon. The apostles initially believed it would be in their lifetime.

seaweasel wrote:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:15 Jesus warns us of that. Like a false prophet today is Benny Henn

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:24

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2:1-3 Some false teachers today are Billy Graham, The Catholic Church, John Macarthur, and Hank Hannegraph

This means absolutely nothing to me. Can you name any?

seaweasel wrote:
Now why wont some people believe in God?
well because God blinds people/hardens hearts and this is Scary!

Actually, no. Most atheists don't believe in God, or gods for that matter, because there is no evidence for the existence of deities. Therefore, they don't see a reason to believe in them.

seaweasel wrote:
John 12:40
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

2 Thessalonians 2 10-12
10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness

Exodus 9:12
But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said to Moses.

Isaiah 6:10 Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed."

Mark 4:12 so that, "'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'"

So what should we do?
Turn to the Lord and the viel will be removed

If God wanted to be known, he'd have shown incontrovertible evidence of his existence and no, something that supposedly happened 2000 years for which there is no physical evidence left behind doesn't count.

seaweasel wrote:
but not everyone will be saved as Matthew 7:13-14 states most go to hell
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14

but the point of this post is to point out the Bible is indeed a super natural book

Really? It's funny then that most "prophesies" are only said to be after the fact. Before that, nobody seems to know what they mean. If the bible instead had the final equations for the theory of everything or gave an accurate description about how to combine Einstein's theory of general relativity with quantum mechanics into a single description of physics, then I'd be more convinced.

A 'heretic' is someone who deviates from the dogmatic true correct doctrine( goes off the rails theologically).

If she hasnt even read the Bible (OMG!) then she's not a heretic, but a Heathen who was never on the train to begin with. Which is a good thing. Because if you're a Heathen we have to missionary-ize you! Which is better than being burned at the stake for being a heretic.
