"Hope for everything, but expect nothing" :)

it may take some thinking about.
because at first glance it may seem contradictory.

I have the same leaning. Expectations can lead to frustration, and projections can also go beyond reality. So, the challenge is to have hope without only ever merely hoping.

I'd prefer 'work towards everything', or something like that, because hope won't get you anywhere.

I agree with the sentiment, but agree also with you_are_what_you_is in that hope is a misnomer, it's almost got a theistic quality to it, which i dislike.

I had a version myself ... and I just thought of it again, after ... hrm, it's been years...

"Shoot for the sun, and you just might hit the moon!"

Only during a solar eclipse 8O

"Shoot for the sun! If you're close enough to hit that thing, you're already a dead man!" :D
