The way I see it, all this guy is doing is lighting money on fire, nothing more exciting than that. Why this is seen as deserving of so much media attention is beyond me; I mean my Asperger's meetup group has more members than this guy's church and the President of the United States feels the need to address him personally?

I will confess to some mixed feelings about the whole thing, I think it's a ridiculous and pointless gesture with no upside, but I sure as hell don't believe in appeasing a bunch of angry foreign fanatics because our citizens exercising their rights offends them. F*ck em if they can't take a joke.

I hope you have a good laugh when your next pair of buildings go down.

Osama Bin Laden - the mind behind the 9/11 attacks - was trained by the CIA. Not every Muslim can say that.
For all I know he could have been working for the CIA.
I'm not saying I'm a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, I'm just saying they could very well be right.

There's a difference between appeasing someone and not insulting them, though. Most people have at least few things they hold sacred. If I called someone's mother a wh***, I'd expect them to be really offended. And I'd expect that telling them, "hey it's just a joke," wouldn't cut it. My *not* saying that is not the same as appeasing them. It's like trying to live with roommates without insulting their mothers, girl/boyfriends, etc., even if you don't like them.

I think when everything is said and done, I believe that it will be revealed that this was nothing more than a publicity stunt. The church has fewer members than many families.

If the Koran burning happens or not, rumor has it now it will not,
I, once I heard of this, do not support this burning because
of reasons already said.

If you have a problem with terrorists then target terrorists. Targeting the entire Muslim population just help create more would be terrorists and terrorist sympathisers.

Exactly. Making fun of things is healthy and should be outright encouraged. This, however, is truly incendiary and is a message of hate. It'll only give terrorists fodder for their recruitment propaganda, and will probably lead to a whole bunch of deaths in the middle east.

You know that American Muslims died in that attack too, right?

Absolutely, the only reason why the terrorists didn't care that they were Muslim was because they were American Muslim. In the eyes of the terrorists, American Muslim's are also infidels.

If he was doing this privately, with no media attention, I wouldn't care if he did it or not. But since it's been blown into a big, I'm sure, international story, I really wish he wouldn't.

I like these two pictures
