It all begins in California. BTW they are cutting "$750 million cut from the agency that provides services to those with developmental disabilities." So even the autism community may end up screaming bloody murder.

Government employees protesting raucously in a state generally regarded as progressive. What sort of order will there be if the government does not hold?

Possibly your respect for the order provided by government derives from the conditioning you underwent living in Singapore. The government in many places and probably in Singapore as well frequently oversteps its benefits to the populace in demanding conformity to government demands. The basis of a good democracy lies in curbing government power when the bureaucrats get out of hand. The government is designed to serve the needs of the people and not vice versa and a bit of disorder initiated by improper government action is a very good sign.

@ Liberals

Stop trying to blame America for everything, if you had your way the Soviet Union would have been running the world and we would have seen mass tyranny on a global scale.

Anyways, the problem is the budget. We would be in a lot better shape without the massive debt. Question is, will the Democrats actually go along with Republicans in cutting spending or will they just stonewall for political purposes.

It is unfortunate that you have absolutely no grasp of the problems concerning debt and the national state of well being and a rational way to remedy the economic plunge.

If I remember correctly you stated we should do away with defense spending and trust that everyone would suddenly be nice to each other. Sorry but the world doesn't work that way.

What the hell is the danger from the Iraqis who have been bombed back to the stone age and Afghanistan where billions are being shoved down the rat hole of corruption and the drug trade. You are living in a paranoid fantasy.

Uh try Russia which is starting to look like it wants to invade a few countries. Then there is North Korea and Iran (the latter has a nutcase running the country). Also part of the reason why no one in their right mind is going to attack us is because they know our military can knock them back to the stone age.

Also your statement about Iraq isn't entirely true. There are parts of Iraq that are doing rather well, particularly the Kurdish Regions. Furthermore, it looks more and more like Iraq will be standing on its own. Afghanistan, you are correct it is a mess, but I actually think Iraq will be a success story.

Your disposition for dreaming up nightmares is typical of the brainwashed American public. You're sick.

Looks like Obama submitted a budget that would lead us to ruin.

Doubtful, really nobody in their right mind trusts the mainstream media anymore ever since Tuscon, Arizona.

The truth is that the budget can't be balanced at the moment and the current argument is about pennies on the dollar. The GOP wants something like 61 billion cut for the rest of fy2011, which is a ridiculously small portion of the 1.65 trillion deficit expected this year.

A better economy, no wars, some spending cuts and increased taxes are the only way to actually reduce the DEBT. Note that none of these dishonest conversations address the debt, it's all deficit talk. And neither the GOP nor the Dems have produced a plan to balance the budget, let alone pay back debt.

In 30 years, we've briefly managed to balance the budget once (or come very close), and never made a serious impact on debt. To imagine that we'll get much further in the middle of the Great Recession is just comical.
