You might also look into http://www.counterpunch.org/whitney02172011.html which presents an historical background to the Egyptian situation with a rather different viewpoint.

Interesting. I don't subscribe to the view put forward but it is interesting. Thanks Sand.

Personally I see it as the Middle East's 1848 in Austria with Mubarak as Metternich.
