Disclaimer: This is not a serious political discussion. I'm making a joke.

As far as I am aware, the only two qualifications needed to run for president is being over a certain age, and being born in the United States. I could be missing something, so point it out if I am.

So, could a tortoise run for president? If it was born in the USA and was over that age limit, it would technically be qualified to run. Is there a law against it?

There is a citizenship requirement, and non-human animals are not considered to be citizens.

That would put a damper on its campaign. What is required to be a citizen?

To be a citizen, you must be a human born in the United States, or become naturalized through the immigration agency. They will not naturalize a turtle.

A child born to U.S. Citizen parents abroad is a citizen of the U.S. also.

Actually, no, a naturalized citizen is not eligible for the Presidency of the US. The Constitution specifies that one must be a natural-born citizen (that is to say, born as a citizen - within the US, or to US citizen parents), and that one must be at least 35 years of age. These are the only qualifiers in the law.

Technically, Charles Manson qualifies to run for President of the United States, although practically speaking, he could never be elected...

That was in reference to the question of who can become a citizen.

We don't need no stinking qualifications. We just need someone who can look good enough to win.

I've vote for a turtle before I'd vote for any of the candidates that usually run in the US elections

He is a convicted felon and not legally permitted to run for or hold office.

There may be issues in individual states, but that's not a Constitutional bar - as long as none of the felonies are committed in office...

i want nothing more than for me to be president because i know how to fix the situation we in and make America free once again but i cant when im 35 for one simple reason. in every aspect of politics it is a prerequisite that you need to be a sociopath in order to be president and that i am not
