Could anyone at least tell me the gist of the conversation?
I love Camus, but can't speak French worth my life... If only it were auf Deutsch oder Englisch...
I can understand "Dostoevsky" and "nihilism", as well as "que"... Anything else, though, I'm clueless.
I really hope at least someone in this subforum understands even a tad bit of French...

Sorry, I can read French somewhat, but understanding conversations is a weak spot for me. I tried to listen to this but couldn't get much out of it. If you can find a transcript or a version with subtitles I might (emphasis on MIGHT) be able to help.

Thanks for being willing to try; I think finding a transcript may prove itself to be an incredibly arduous task. Do you happen do have any French-speaking friends?

If you give me a few hours to take care of other stuff and nobody is answering you until then, I'll sent you a PM about it :)

Thank you so much, Sallamandrina!
You can just post it in this thread if it's easier.

Semi-irrelevant, but I love the Twain quote in your signature.

Albert Camus is talking about his adaptation in drama of a russian novel whose titles in french is "Les possédés". I don't know how to summarize it beyond that...

Thanks for the willingness and offer!

Sallamandrina translated it for me, so this thread should die soon. :P

Translate this page topic

Merci, visagrunt.
Sometimes Google will translate text--not sure about videos.

I keep my French-English dictionary handy. The stuff written here at WP as dialogue is fairly easy.

Like many AS people, I read and write better than I speak, and listening to speech in any language is difficult at the best of times.

Camus can be obtuse, even when translated. Sartre can be just as opaque.

Maintenant, le thread est mort. :skull:
