Or not? I just received an unpleasant reply from a veteran member here concerning my 'nazi usa' topic.

Room or not?

Dear me.

I do trust I was not the nasty reply.

I generally restrain myself to a mild sarcasm pointing out poor language use or basic idiocy. Saying it is the act of a Nazi to support Israel falls in one of those categories, I would say.

As for room for controversial views: Circumspice!

What ELSE is there?

Occasinally we get a smidge of discussion, but I have seen very little harmony and group solidarity.

The national socialist parties are a part of history, and we need to be able to talk about them. It's the 21st century, WWII is history.

If the argument is bogus, respond to the merits of the argument, don't attack the poster.

Controversial views, yes.

Outright bigotry, no. This includes racism, sexism, and any other pejudicial comments regarding a person's natal condition.

Trolling, no. This include personal attacks, or attacks against another person's ethnicity, gender, age, mental condition, or other matters solely for the purpose of acquiring attention by starting yet another stupid argument.

DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!

Personal attacks will be recorded, and may be used as sufficient cause for banning a member.

Fnord would know, he has been banned. But our message is for the other members posting in your threads.

Loads of room, but the more controversial a view the more evidence, and coherency you need to make your case.

Claims should be followed with valid supporting evidence, or they may be disregarded (ignored) by those who read them.

Otherwise, "Something I overheard..." or "In my opinion (imo)..." or "I read this somewhere..." might suffice as a disclaimer.

What do you expect though? If you start threads just to throw insults?

Most of the opinions on PPR would be controversial to the 'average man in the street'.

But you don't need to start a thread with an insult. Unless you enjoy exchanging them?

And then start (yet another) thread complaining about attitudes on WP?

If you play that way then you will get some sharp replies. Just the way it is. If you don't want to get unpleasant replies, then don't make unpleasant posts.

Hahaha the OP is demanding the right to be a drama queen without being called out on it. Don't expect anyone round here to take ridiculous Hitler/Nazi references seriously. Godwin's law is pretty well heard of. There's plenty of room for controversial views here but the sad thing about absurd Hitler/Nazi references is that they're not taking up any of that room, they are simply filling a void left behind by weak arguments.

Certainly ... but it has taken many of us a long time and a lot of work to finally make some!
