Let's say that somebody wanted to conquer the universe and had the means to do it, axiomatically. Their basic mode of operation being that they offer two choices, peaceful subjugation or total annihilation. What would be your response be to them if you were the representative of your planet and your words decided whether or not your planet was made uninhabitable or whether your populations were to accept subordination? What would you choose and what would you say?

The typical human approach. Peaceful subjugation, then try to steal technology and knowledge and attempt a subversion later.

I'd do whatever it takes to keep my people alive.

If they are putting it that way

A. they can and will ultimately do what THEY want simply per your setup.

B. They are obviously as human as makes no never mind or they would not think in those terms.

it makes no never mind what you or I or the Archon of the Eklektoi says - che sera sera and humanity will continue and the inhabitants of earth will still be subservient, if to a Bigger Brother
