Wis Supreme Court Judge Accused of Choking Fellow Judge
Quote:
The Wisconsin has been rocked by allegations that a conservative member of the state Supreme Court recently tried to choke a fellow justice during an argument earlier this month. Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Justice David Prosser put her in a chokehold during the dispute in her chambers. The argument reportedly took place on June 13th, one day before the court ruled in a 4-to-3 decision to reinstate Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s union-busting law curbing collective bargaining. Prosser has denied the claim.

As in link to article you quoted from.
Anyways, something I've found.
“…The discussion became heated after Mrs. Bradley asked Prosser to leave her office and said she was bothered by his disparaging comments towards Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson. Prosser allegedly then put his hands around Bradley’s throat in what was described as a choke hold, but did not apply pressure. Among the anonymous sources breaking the information to the press, another report contradicted this altercation saying Justice Bradley came charging at Prosser with fists raised and that when attempting to block her, he hit her neck. Shortly after the incident, Bradley told the other Justices in the room she had just been choked by Prosser, to which an unknown Justice stated “You were not choked”. It is currently unknown if said Justice witnessed the incident. Capitol Police Chief Charles Tubbs was notified of the incident shortly after and he met with the entire Supreme Court…”

So, who did what?

I have a strong feeling he went Wayne Brady on her. How would you block or swat a punch in a way that ends up hitting another person's throat? And how would you do it hard enough to actually cause injury to that person's throat anyways?
Well if she runs right into his hand, it can happen.
Also one must consider the fact she wasn't seriously injured, if he was in a rage to the point he was actually trying to choke her, wouldn't she have ended up in the hospital.

so light choke is okay so long as the lady gets your point, right?

I'm saying that I'm not sure that what happened was as the lady in this case is describing it.

But when women claim abuse they are most likely lying right?
or making a big deal out of nothing?
she is an elected Judge if that helps you have some respect for her.

The individual she is accusing is also an elected Judge. I'm not saying that she's a liar, I'm pointing out the fact that she didn't get medical treatment immediately makes this highly suspect. Furthermore, he was in the majority in the ruling, which I'm sure this is only a coincidence, not.

A friend and I were just talking about the seeming lack of decorum among our high officials these days.
We all express shock at Dick Cheney cussing out the South Dakota senator, and lament about how they used have more decorum in the victorian times (lincoln and douglas never cussed each other out), but we forget that in 1856 a Southern senator beat a abolitionist Northern colleague to death with a cane on the floor of congress. Congressmen would shoot each other with derringers.
Maybe we are degenerating into a new age of justices and legislators getting physical on each other.
Maybe they will bring back duelling!

You are assuming that he's had self-defense training. He may also have been trying to grab her wrists to keep her from hitting him when she was in that frenzy and missed. He had nothing to worry about, he knew which was the court would likely rule, she on the other hand was in the dissent.
