We don't just throw a bunch of IOUs at people and then doge them to avoid paying them back like a gambling addict or compulsive shopper, we are paying interest on those loans all the time, and those maintenance payments on the interest are slowly swallowing up the government's revenue. The deficit spending may have been necessary in the '80s, but it was getting to be a concern during the Bush years and became a totally idiotic thing to do again couple months ago!
