In retrospect it was a probably a bit outside the realms of most peoples meme knowledge. The original picture was a bunch of suspicious looking men at a "Justice for J6" rally widely believed to be the least inconspicuous undercover federal agents ever pictured. That edited version appeared after it was reported that the agents raiding Mar-a-lago spent a great deal of time pawing through Melania's clothes.

Much less funny when explained, unfortunately.

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes are definitely more associated with skate-punk and pop punk than emo.

While there is a degree of musical overlap between pop punk and emo, there isn't really any between skate-punk and emo.

A lot of emo sits closer to hardcore but tends to be more frantic and wounded sounding than tough or angry. The other part of the genre is twinkly and pretty and really doesn't fit in well with punk or hardcore as well. Lots of emotional vulnerability and introspection, often with vocals that range from whispery to shrieking screams.

Skate-punk also draws on elements of early hardcore but tends to be upbeat and high energy. The vocals aren't nearly as intense, the music doesn't sound like it's about to veer entirely out of control, etc.

Emo doesn't belong particularly close to gothic rock either, since gothic rock tends to be gloomy, slow and bass-driven. Emo is typically guitar driven, often with significant tempo shifts and often builds towards a cathartic climax.

The subcultures share stereotypes (depressed teenagers with too much black eyeliner) but musically they'd be unlikely to be confused.
