I cant think of the right term for it. Pork billing? Where a bill is made and then extra stuff is added onto it

The us defense budget is, percentage wise, higher by far than any other country

If there are errors, I am on my kindle

Percentage wise relative to what? As a percentage of GDP, it is not the highest.

Yea, despotic third world countries like North Korea and Pakistan are higher. But only because those countries have a small GDP, or in the case of North Korea almost no GDP that isn't government. Compared to other developed countries it is extremely high as a percentage of GDP.

Subsidies to farmers and corporations. After that, about half the military budget could be cut.

I'm going to say the salaries of politicians. They should just work for free if they aren't going to accomplish anything worthwhile while they're in office. Besides, most of them are freaking rich.

The biggest waste is nonsense like this: [Link]

Ah, yes, we now have an environmentally friendly fighter-jet. The absurdity of that notion gives me a migraine if I think about it for too long.

In the USA? Tax breaks for the rich, as well as the military. Failing to tax millionaires and billionaires appropriate to their income is the same as subsidizing them.

That is pretty ironic. Green bombers would be even more absurd. I'm sure shrapnel and unexploded chemical ordnance is awesome for the environment. Maybe they'll come up with some newfangled "green" or "low emission" bunker buster bombs.

I'm not sarcastic when I say I'm expecting the US government to start making environmentally-friendly cluster bombs at some point. We use cluster bombs enough that it seems the reasonable place to start.. :hmph:

War victims are great for the environment though. Good for the soil.
