God made our blood. He knows so much more about it than we do, and if he tells us not to take it into our body (in any shape and form), we do well to listen to him. As the Bible says at Acts 15:29: "to keep abstaining from blood ... good health to you".

i dont think bloodless medicine means quite what you think it means

it can and will be used in conjunction with blood bags in a combat scenario, it only lessens the bloodloss from the surgery itself to a minimum and only uses specific parts of blood from other donors, in complicated cases they sometimes use the patients own blood, drawn before the surgery and with a recovery time in between that and the surgery.

An interesting technique, but it is no replacement for platelets which is used to treat certain kinds of cancer.

Platelet donation is safe. A person can make up to 24 donations per year (about one every two weeks). I have been donating platelets for the past 7 years. No problems for either me or the end user.

Plasma donation is similarly harmless (and sometimes you can actually legally sell the stuff; there's clinics all over the nation that pay a healthy chunk to get your blood plasma for medical research.)

For plasma donation the blood centers prefer folks with type AB blood. Their -plasma- can be accepted by anyone with any blood type.

Platelets, plasma and red blood cells can be automatically extracted by a phoresis machine. RBC (red blood cells) can be donated one ever 28 days as opposed to whole blood donations we can be made one every 56 days.
